As we continue to respond to the incident that occurred in our community over the weekend, we have activated our multidisciplinary violence threat risk assessment process that involves police and other key community partners. We are also in contact with our provincial student safety experts, and have been provided with valuable guidance as we ensure the emotional health, safety and well-being of all students and staff at our school.

As you may be aware, there was an incident on social media over the weekend involving several students who attend Mount Elizabeth.
There was a threat posted on social media. The threat was reported to the RCMP who investigated and had the post taken down. The RCMP concluded from their investigation and have determined that there was no intent to act on the threat.

Flu season typically strikes our population from December through February. While prevention is the key, there may be times when your child does become ill with the flu. In order to protect the health of other students and school staff, children who are sick should not attend school. Students who are sick should remain at home until they are fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medicines. Keeping your child home allows your child to rest and recover. If your child’s symptoms become severe, you should contact your child’s health care provider.

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a relaxing and fulfilling holiday. Exams for Grades 9-12 students are just three weeks away; this is a good time to encourage your son/daughter to prepare. Our Grade 9 students will be writing exams for the first time, which may cause some anxiety, try to keep them at ease, their teachers are having conversations with them to prepare them for the experience.
