WE NEED YOU TO VOLUNTEER
We really need you to get involved in your child’s school! At the moment, your children are at risk of losing access to funding which has been provided through government grants. Every year, the PAC (Parent Advisory Committee) applies for funding on behalf of the students enrolled at MEMSS. We are very fortunate to receive thousands of dollars every year which is available to enrich your child’s experience at school. The grants are submitted in March but at the moment we do not have a PAC executive. Without an executive in place, we are not able to apply for more funding and we will need to close the PAC accounts.
Do you have an hour a month to offer to your child’s school? If so, you could get involved with PAC. It is a great opportunity to learn about your child’s school and what events are going on. It is easy to lose touch with our children’s education and social lives as they get older. PAC will allow you to be more in touch with the school and hear about all the extra-curricular events. You will have the opportunity to chat with the principal, vice-principal and various members of staff.
Are you feeling burnt out from being involved in the PAC at the elementary level? Don’t let that intimidate you. The MEMSS PAC is a relaxed meeting once a month where you get the opportunity to chat with other parents, discuss school events, educational plans, and discuss financial requests. You are not required to do any fundraising. Meetings are usually over in an hourJ
Here are a few examples of what we have used these funds for in the past:
- Full class set of digital cameras
- Full set of Ipads
- Self filtering water fountains throughout the school
- Engine for auto
- Travel funds for sports, drama, band, etc.
- Jerseys for sports teams
- Lacrosse equipment
- Refinishing the multi-sports area at the back of the school

The MEMSS PAC is in dire need of parents who want to get involved in their child’s school! We would love to see some new faces and hear your input. Unfortunately, we no longer have a PAC at your school as the executive’s children have all graduated. Our next PAC Meeting is on Tuesday, January 29th at 7pm in the MEMSS staffroom.
