CMSD82 2022-2023 Internal Administrative Calendar

The School Calendar Committee for Coast Mountains School District 82 was reconvened on April 12, 2022 to revisit the 2022-2023 School Calendar further to the province’s announcement on March 23, 2022, that the government of B.C. has advised all provincial public sector employers to recognize September 30, 2022, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as a holiday for this year on a without prejudice basis.

Like last year, this is a temporary measure while the province continues to engage Indigenous partners and the business community to determine how B.C. will observe September 30 for future years.  The government will provide further information and directions once engagement is complete and future plans are determined.  It is important to note that unlike last year, hours of instruction will not be reduced by government for the 2022-2023 school year.

The 2022-2023 School Calendar was previously recommended by the School Calendar Committee in January 2021 to the Education Committee, approved by the Board and the Ministry of Education.

In light of the province’s announcement on March 23, 2022 the following “amendments” were made to the CMSD82 2022-2023 School Calendar and Backgrounder in consultation with the District School Calendar Committee, then submitted to the Minister of Education and Child Care following a recommendation by the Education Committee and approval by the Board at its April 27, 2022 Regular (Public) Board Meeting:

  • Friday, September 30, 2022 – the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation will be added to the list of days when school will not be in session.
  • Days in Session changed from 186 to 185 for the 2022-2023 school year.
  • Days of Instruction changed from 179 to 178 for the 2022-2023 school year.
(The number of minutes of instruction (minutes/day) added to the day for each school is 2 minutes.)

Should you have questions or require further information, please contact Carole Gagnon, Executive Assistant at the Board of Education Office at (250) 638-4401 or via email at carole.gagnon@cmsd.bc.ca.
